A Giveaway + A Record Reading Month
See what books helped me break my reading record this month.

A bookish giveaway…and other important updates.
First things first: there’s a bookish giveaway happening on Instagram, and I don’t want you to miss it! It features a few items from local (to me) makers and a gift card to treat yourself to a new book! 📚 It ends TONIGHT, so don’t wait!
Now for your September updates:

In August, I participated in the Micro Fiction Writing Battle competition with the following prompts: inanimate romance as the genre, lawyer as a character, and pocket watch as an object. Here’s what I came up with (with no redraws on prompts!) While it didn’t go anywhere competition-wise, I got great feedback and enjoyed the experience.

I have managed to read three books this month already. You guys. That’s a record reading month for me, and we’re barely halfway through. Thank goodness for Audible and Spotify:
Dear Child by Romy Hausman = loved. Great story, beautiful writing, captivating throughout.
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover = meh. I liked the story, but it felt like it was meant to be a rom-com with very serious subjects written in. It was interesting, and I’ll watch the movie, but nothing too memorable.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt = I was enamored from the moment I opened the book until the moment I closed it. It makes me want to revise my novel entirely because it’s scribbles compared to this gold.
Stay up to date (and as me as a friend!) on GoodReads.

While in the Outer Banks of North Carolina earlier this month, I found the cutest little coffee shop + bookstore duo: my dream. Meet Duck’s Cottage & Downtown Books!

I am now a proud member of the Indie BookVault, a site dedicated to helping readers connect with indie authors.
The ABCs of Homesteading for Kids is available at Bookshop.org, an online bookstore that supports local bookstores.
Considering the self-publishing route? I’ve got advice from several experienced indie authors. Check it out!
See you all next month!
